The UP Vanguard Hall of Fame Golf Tournament aims to relive the life, accomplishments, and contributions of the honoree to serve as an inspiration and role model to the current and future generations of leaders. This year’s tournament will be held in honor of UP Vanguard Hall of Famer BGEN. SILVINO R. DE GOMA. Vgd. Gen. de Goma was the 14th Infantry Battalion Commander in 1954. In 1962, he was UP ROTC Commandant when the Rayadillo Company was established. He then became the 4th Vanguard to hold the position of Commanding General of the Army in 1965 to 1966. Vgd. Gen. De Goma was also an avid historian—he oversaw the erection of an oversized statue of Lapulapu in Camp Lapulapu, Lahug Cebu in 1966. The statue was made by Cebu sculpture Fidel Araneta upon the specifications of Vgd. Gen. De Goma who made researches on the Mactan hero.
